How To Improve Your Health Through Self Improvement

By
Self improvement and personal development can be confusing if you're not sure how best to approach it. These tips should help you focus on what you need to do to improve yourself and your health. What is your current situation?
You can only move forward if you evaluate where you are now in your life so you can set goals for the future. For example, if you know you are overweight and feel you should do something about it, don't just think 'I need to lose some weight'. Weigh yourself, and set yourself a goal weight loss in a specific amount of time.

Set yourself some time based goals - these could be short, medium or long term. Depending on how long you allow yourself to complete each goal, you can alter your life accordingly. If you decide that in five years you'll be fit enough to run a marathon, but you're not fit enough to even contemplate it at the moment, split your goal into smaller sub-goals - so perhaps in a month you could jog a mile, in two months, two miles and so on.

When you complete a goal that you've set yourself, give yourself some congratulations - this could be a treat of some sort, or just the knowledge that you've done what you set out to do. If you don't manage to complete it, don't beat yourself up about it, just extend the amount of time you set yourself.

Is anything standing in your way which will stop you from realizing your goal? For example, do you always eat out at lunchtimes with your colleagues? Just for the time you need, take a packed lunch and have a walk round the local park if you can. You'll be eating food which you know is healthy because you prepared it, an you'll get some extra exercise.

Do you know how to achieve the goals you've set yourself? If you don't then find out - research whatever it is you've set yourself to do and come up with a step-by-step plan to help you achieve it.

Try something new! If you've always had a hankering to try snowboarding, then let this be the year you do it. Your goal doesn't need to be adventurous as that, you may want to try out a new haircut or color, just try something different for a change.

If you succeed in achieving a goal you've set for yourself, work out how you achieved it, and repeat the sequence for a different goal

If you keep pushing yourself, success will follow. Along with your personal success, you'll give yourself a more positive attitude which will help your life and your health.
