Quick Tips for Your Weight Loss Success

Facts at your fingertips
• Know your BMI. Your BMI, or body mass index, is a way to gauge whether your weight is healthy, and knowing your number can help you determine whether or not you need to lose weight. The simple calculation takes into account both your height and weight, which is why most experts consider this a better guideline than the old "ideal body weight" tables.
• Look to your resources. Information can be your weight-loss ally. Find answers to your questions, locate medical specialists, or do some research into permanent, healthy weight loss. Surf the web, pick up some new books, or check out a videos.
• Is medication right for you? Maybe. For people who are clinically obese and have unsuccessfully tried to lose weight before, prescription drugs may help. In particular, drugs are an option to consider when a weight problem is compounded by other health conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes. Talk to your doctor; to get more information on weight-loss drugs right now.
• Know an apple from a pear. People tend to put on weight in certain places. Some of us accumulate fat around the middle -- an apple shape. Others gain pounds around the hips and lower body -- think of a pear. In general, being pear-shaped brings less health risks than looking like an apple.
Lifestyle changes
• Make healthy choices the rule. The decisions you make all day and all week have an impact on your weight. Simple changes such as swapping lunch with a friend for an exercise date and always bringing a pair of walking shoes whenever you travel can turn you into a naturally lean person.
• Plan ahead for successful weight loss. Losing weight doesn't just happen. Planning ahead -- from choosing a meaningful start date to getting a physical exam and learning to counter would-be diet saboteurs -- makes the best weight-loss strategy even better.
• Add some activity. There's no getting around it: if you need to lose weight, you need to get moving. Changing your eating habits alone just isn't enough. And the benefits of moderate exercise are pretty impressive. Simply increasing the amount of activity you get every day can improve your sex life, lower your risk of stroke, and even improve your memory.
• Make your own way to weight loss. Instead of constant dieting, stop and listen to yourself. You may find that outside of the dieting mindset, food can be a friend instead of an enemy. Jean Antonello did just that and lost 30 pounds, which she has never gained back.
Take active steps
• Don't "diet." Most of the eating plans referred to as "diets" aren't designed for long-term weight loss. If you want to slim down for good, think of eating in a whole new way. For example, focus on what you can eat, instead of what you can't. And aim for gradual success rather than overnight skinniness.
• Stay the course when dining out. Don't let restaurant dining be an excuse to throw in the towel. Choose from cuisines that are typically lower in fat such as Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese. Opt for vegetarian dishes, or order grilled fish instead of steak. And ask waiters about "hidden" high-calorie ingredients such as cheese, oil, or butter.
• Institute a ban on all excuses. We've all made excuses for avoiding exercise, eating that last cookie, or putting off weight loss for "just one more week." Unfortunately, rationalizing won't get you any closer to your goal.
• Get the facts on weight-loss supplements. Drugstore shelves overflow with tempting weight-loss aids promising a quick fix to your extra five or 10 pounds. But not all commercial supplements aimed at weight loss are effective -- or safe. Protect your health by choosing wisely, and get the facts before swallowing any pill or drinking any tea.
• Aim for your optimal heart rate during exercise. When working out, you'll want to keep your number of heartbeats within a certain range -- too low means you're not working hard enough, too high is too strenuous. Get the most from exercise, safely.
• Head off childhood obesity. Overweight kids are likely to become overweight adults. Parents can help by gauging portion sizes, offering healthy snacks, and encouraging activity.

First Ingredient of Weight Loss Success Is a Positive Attitude

If you are reading this now, there's a possibility you found this on an Internet search for weight loss tips. Read the following very carefully, because it's not my intent to mislead anybody, regardless of how many pounds they need to lose.
You can successfully achieve your weight loss goals. You can successfully maintain a healthy weight. Don't expect miracles overnight. You hold the key to your success.
I hope I haven't disappointed you if you came here thinking I would tell you of a miracle cure that melts fats instantly within weeks so you can attend your high school reunion and show off an awesome bod. Yes, weight loss surgery is an option for some, but don't think it's the express ticket to instant skinny. There are tests to take, procedures to follow, and a healthful regimen to maintain. WLS can help those who qualify, but it's important to know that you won't transform instantly to Angelina Jolie or gain abs like The Situation right afterward. Exercise, movement, and good eating do the rest.
Oh yes, one more thing: if you want to reach your weight loss goals you must have the most important element with you at all times - a positive mindset. Weight loss shouldn't be view necessarily as a process, but an exciting journey. As you plan new menus and workouts, you have the opportunity to discover new things about yourself, and revel in the days you step on the scale to find the needle hasn't passed as far as it did last month. Look forward to each day, and don't allow discouragement or a slip of the lip around a Krispy Kreme doughnut cause you to backslide.
It's tough, too. You'll go to parties, or turn on the TV and see somebody tuck into a Big Mac or Dairy Queen Blizzard, and the cravings creep up on you. Should you indulge once in a while in a guilty pleasure, don't obsess over it! Move ahead, and steer back on track. One reason branded weight loss programs find success is through the support they offer - if you have a diet buddy, the give and take of encouragement is an excellent way to increase positivity as you work toward your goals. The weight loss will occur naturally if you abide by your plan with your heart light and willing.
As for that high school reunion, go anyway. Dazzle your old friends with your amazing smile.

What Difference Does Mindset Make to Your Weight Loss Success

By
One of the things that people tend not to consider with weight loss is mindset; the fabulous benefits that positive thinking can have on your success.
Simply put, if you think negative thoughts you will find that they lead to negative behaviours and in turn reduce motivation. On the other hand, positive thoughts will increase
your motivation and energy levels and also help you reach your goal more easily.

Focusing on what you can do and the positive is the best way to succeed in reaching your goals. Simply, positive thoughts empower you. Negative thoughts don't do you any favours at all.

Difficult Success
Taking a downtrodden or negative attitude makes success all the more difficult. If you berate yourself for eating the wrong food, or spend your time constantly focusing on the foods you can't eat and the exercise you 'have' to do you will damage your efforts. Negative energy is still energy and takes from your reserves, makes you feel powerless and reduces motivation.

When we feel down many of us focus on the negative and skip our workout or eat that bag of crisps. However, if we are aware of our feelings and recognize them, we can take a positive action to transform them into something good.

Approaches to Positive Thinking
Many of us respond with helplessness when we feel down and claim we can't help how we feel. However, to think positively, we also have to believe in what we want in the first place. Saying we feel fine about the way we look or feel, but not truly believing it creates internal conflict.

One way around this is a daily journal. Here you can write down how you truly feel and acknowledge any negative feelings or emotions. When we write things down we often find that we have more power over them and the mere act of writing your thoughts and feelings down acts as a catharsis.

It's important to be aware of how you are making these positive changes as it is these little victories that will help you reach your goal. Focus on your moments of triumph and give attention to the positives. For example if you said no to seconds, when you usually would have some, or walked an extra mile, then give yourself some credit focus on these achievements.

The Goals
Realistic goals are there to prevent you feeling negative about not achieving unrealistic results. If you set yourself an impractical target and fail, then you will beat yourself up over it needlessly. Reasonable goals are achieved with realistic measures and perpetuate the positive mind-set that aids success. In turn, they create more positivity and more success - so best foot forward and turn that frown upside down;)

Top 5 Secrets of Weight Loss Success Stories

If you simply Google the web for weight loss success stories, you will literally find hundreds of thousands of articles on the same subject. However, most of such articles mainly focus on hints and tips related with diet, nutrition, food, exercise and physical activity. While such diet secrets and fitness tips are very important, one should not underestimate the significance of the "psychological" or "mental" aspect of a successful diet and fitness journey. The following article is intended to highlight five such secrets that represent the "psychological aspect" of the most weight loss success stories.
1- Never compare
One of the easiest changes you can make right now, advises Dr. Gannon, is to recognize that this is your journey, not someone else's. Do not let others' successes intimidate you or make you envious. Everyone has a different path as well as her own set of obstacles and challenges. If you stick to the Best Body Now plan and focus on improving your life, incredible change will happen for you, too.
The addition of just one activity that you find uplifting or inspiring can make you happier on a daily basis.
2- Remember when you were the happiest
By thinking about times when you were joyful and fulfilled, you can find keys to improve your current levels of happiness. Do you need to spend more time with friends or loved ones? Do you need more quiet time or outlets for your creativity? Are you inspired when you are learning or exploring? Are you most empowered when you feel healthy and strong? Are you more energetic and positive on days when you're well rested? Do you have enough fun in your life now? Romance? Laughter? Identify what is missing in your life now, suggests Dr. Gannon, and add that back into your routine. The addition of just one activity that you find uplifting or inspiring, such as a Sunday evening bath or a family activity night can make you happier on a daily basis. If you have trouble identifying what makes you happy, think about the thing that, when you do it, takes you completely away from the current situation, from the here and now.
3- Set manageable goals
Break down your goals into very specific, manageable baby steps in order to make them less intimidating and more achievable. For example, rather than trying to "drink more water," focus on the actionable goal of refilling your water bottle two times per day. Get more sleep by getting into bed thirty minutes earlier each night. Get more exercise by scheduling a hiking date with a friend once a week. Read one novel a month to get your creative juices flowing. Take one continuing education class to challenge your mind. Go on a date with your spouse one time per month. Dr. Gannon recommends starting with one or two small changes like these, because these successes will inspire you to make even more positive changes in your life. Another strategy that works? Be realistic about your goals and frame them as "I am going to be happier and more confident one step at a time."
4- Prioritize your priorities
It is common for many women to believe that in order to be a good wife, mother, employee or friend they need to be self-sacrificing. But the truth is that strategy doesn't work. To take care of others, you need to first focus on yourself; this is a clear indicator of emotional health. Starting now, give yourself permission to make you the priority in your life for a change. By nurturing yourself, you will become a better partner, mother, friend, worker and more; guaranteed.
5- Track your progress
Noting the positive changes you're making in your life; either by sharing them with loved ones or by writing them down-will help ensure your success. If you're extroverted; you are outgoing and get energy from being with others-share your progress in an exercise class or online support group. Why? Because many extroverts feel their successes only "count" when they are shared with others. However, if you are more introverted;you get energy from being alone-keep notes in a journal or use downtime for self-reflection. The process of documenting your progress works because it makes you feel more responsible to your goals, which increases your odds of success.
If carefully and properly follow the above-mentioned secrets, chances are that your own story could be included in the weight loss success stories even within months.
