How To Construct An Effective Youth Fitness Program

By
With the growing epidemic of youth obesity, there has never been a greater need for sound physical fitness programs for children. When constructing a basic youth fitness training program for younger athletes in the 6 to 9 year old range, there are several key concepts to focus on that will help children yield superior results.
1) First and foremost, the program must be FUN and involves differing types of play. Pretty simply, if you don't keep it fun, you are not going to keep the children engaged, and your results are going to suffer. Mixing games into a training program also breaks up the emphasis on
endless drills, which can be mentally exhausting and monotonous for a child.

2) Secondly, children need variety in the exercises, drills, and games that will constitute the bulk of their workouts. This variety can come not only in the types of activities they engage in, but also in the terrain and situations, as well. The more information that a child can absorb and process by being placed in fresh situations, the better they will be able to perform in future challenges, as they develop.

3) Third, and possibly most importantly, children must be given time to gain understanding and mastery of the new skills and abilities they are developing. This requires patience on a coach's part, but that will be rewarded as children build stronger fundamentals and proper training form. The absolute worst thing you can do when training a child is to rush them through drills or a program and focus on results. This can reinforce bad habits and lead to injuries and disinterest.

4) Finally, keep things positive. At this age, children react much more effectively to praise and encouragement, rather than criticism and negative assessments. The goal should be to encourage a life-long love of fitness.

With that being said, here is a short, sample routine that you can put a small group of young athletes through to get them moving in the right direction towards optimal fitness levels.

BASIC YOUTH FITNESS TRAINING SAMPLE ROUTINE 1

Opening Stretches - (5 Minutes)
Game 1 - Sharks and Minnows (Basketball or Soccer Version) (2 Rounds) (5-10 Minutes)
Exercise 1 - Push-ups (3 sets of 5) (5 Minutes)
Game 2 - Basketball Dribbling Relay Race (Best 2 out of 3) (5 Minutes)
Exercise 2 - Sit-ups (3 sets of 20) (5 Minutes)
Game 3 - Tug of War (Best 2 out of 3) (5 Minutes)
Finishing Stretches - (5 minutes)

Fitness Tips For the Busy Traveler - How to Get Fit Even Though You're Traveling All the Time

By
You might be overworked, stressed and traveling all the time, but you can still make room for exercise, keep the weight off and tone up if you do it smartly. Read the following time saving exercise tips for the busy traveler.

(First tip: while you are reading this article, why don't you sit up straight and stretch out your neck at the same time. Or do some quick buttock clenches, calf raises or arm circles?!)

 AT THE AIRPORT

Act as if escalators, travelators and elevators do not exist. Get to the airport a little earlier so you can walk all the way to your gate. Many airports have massage centers, so you can also catch a quick deep tissue massage while you are there. Resist the temptation to grab a bite to eat or a milky coffee if you know that your inflight meal will be served within a couple of hours of take off. Or eat a light meal now and do not eat again on the flight.

ON THE PLANE

Perform leg extensions, arm stretches and neck/trunk movements. Not only will it help you keep fit, there is a link between sitting too long in a confined space such as a long flight and DVT (deep vein thrombosis which are potentially lethal blood clots)

A long flight, without distraction, is also a great opportunity to re-charge your mind as well as your body. Close your eyes, take deep breaths and say some affirmations to yourself:

"It is easy to find time and energy to workout on this business trip"
"I have a fast metabolism and lots of energy"
"I will workout during any spare moments, getting healthier and healthier with each minute of exercise"

ON ARRIVAL

As soon as you have checked into your hotel, do some exercises straight away, no matter how tired you feel from the flight. Take a brisk walk around the block. The fresh air will do you the world of good and it is often a good way to get a feel for the local culture and to generate talking points for any business dinner you might be required to attend during your trip.

EXERCISE DURING ANY SPARE MOMENT

Don't think you have to set aside at least one hour to exercise properly. This is not always possible on a frenetic business trip. So instead of being unrealistic about your exercise goals, just try and do little and often.

Set your wake-up call for 20 minutes earlier. Head over the to the gym and pick any aerobic exercise for 10 minutes. (treadmill, bike, rowing machine...or something even more basic such as star jumps or jumping rope). Many treadmills or bikes have attached magazine racks so you can read the essential emails, reports or presentations you might require for the day. See if you can walk to your business appointment instead of taking a cab. That's another 15 minutes of exercise there. Remember to take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator whenever you can.

Before you go to bed, head back to the hotel gym and lift weights for 10 minutes. Add up these pockets of exercises and you have exercised for at least 40-45 minutes today!

You can also exercise while waiting around. Try arm circles as you wait for a taxi, or calf raises before the meeting starts.

HEALTHY TRAVEL FOOD YOU SHOULD BE PACKING

It is all too easy to over-indulge in unhealthy food when you are on the road. Sometimes you can catching quick bites to eat in between meetings, or wolfing down the breakfast buffet because, well, because it's there and your company is picking up the tab. Pack healthy snacks instead. Consider any of the following: nuts, sesame packs, protein bars (check the label as some protein bars are packed with sugar), dried fruit, oatmeal bars, goji berries or healthy breakfast cereals

AVOID OVER-INDULGENCE DURING BUSINESS DINNERS

It is too easy to drink and eat excessively during those long business dinners. Before you join your business colleagues in that extra bread roll or dessert, just remember the saying: "a moment on your lips, a lifetime on your hips".

The 5 Biggest Barriers to Fitness Over 40 - How to Get Your Groove Back!

What makes a seasoned woman? Time. Like a good wine, she's complex. Full of surprises. Life experience has taught her that she is not defined by her chronological age. If you're a seasoned woman you know your health is your most precious asset. You know that the best gift you can present to the world is a healthy YOU - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

But if you're over 40 and especially if you're over 45, you've probably realized that keeping fit and healthy isn't the same game you played in your 20's and 30's. Maybe you can't lose weight as easily as you once did.

The same workouts aren't producing the same results. Every woman over 40 knows that feeling of frustration when she's gained a few extra
pounds, or of not being able to work out as intensely as she once did. Busy lifestyles make healthy eating and exercising even more challenging. While we're not all the same, and every woman has different needs and issues relating to their personal health - every woman needs to exercise and embrace healthy eating habits. I've identified 5 of the biggest barriers to staying fit after age 40 - and how you can overcome them. I want you to challenge your beliefs about eating, exercising, and how you look.

Learn your individual "factory settings" and how you can naturally and intuitively stay fit and healthy. Staying fit isn't about feeling bad. It's about feeling strong.

And having fun - not stressing about every forkful of food or every minute on the treadmill. Remember, you become what you believe! Be the beautiful, seasoned woman you are - it's the spice that makes the dish!

Barrier 1: The cookie cutter syndrome

Your body has specific factory settings that are unique to you. What you may not know is your body naturally wants to take you to your optimum weight (not Jessica Alba's or Angelina Jolie's) as long as you don't fight it. You just have to reacquaint yourself with you and stop using cookie cutter diet and exercise programs that don't address YOUR special needs!Yes, it might be harder to lose or maintain your weight once you hit your forties and fifties, but when you understand how your individual body works, you can get results faster and maintain them easier.

You'll look great and feel even better. Take off your clothes and take a good look at yourself in the mirror.

Like a lobster that discards its old shell and grows new shells throughout its lifetime, you have the power to throw off old images of your body and embrace who you are right now - without beating yourself up about it. Start paying attention to your body. Follow its wisdom. You are not doomed to either being overweight or to being on a perpetual diet. Once you accept the body you were born with, you can return to your unique, normal weight - as nature intended. What I'm strenuously against is the endless pressure to be THIN. That's a huge part of the problem. The data from some treatment centers shows a steady increase in eating disorders in women over the age of 40. We're all different. Some bodies are meant to be soft and curvy.

Others are naturally sharp and angular. That's the beauty of diversity. Accepting and loving the unique beauty of your body will set you free and give you confidence and power!

Barrier 2: Minding Your Metabolism

Nutrition is essential to metabolism. Everyone is familiar with the word "metabolism", but not a lot of people know what it means. You probably know someone who can eat anything they want and not gain weight. Well if you believe some people are just born with robust metabolism....it's a myth!

The truth is, you are not the victim of your metabolism - you are the creator of your metabolism. There's no mystery. Food is simply energy.Your body requires energy to function. Food in the form of protein, carbohydrates and fat are your main sources of energy (calories). Take in more energy than you need from any of these and your body will store it as fat. So fat loss is all about energy balance. Simple, right? You need to eat smarter, not less. When you restrict calories below the minimal amount of energy required to feed your nervous system, your body thinks it is starving. When this happens, not only does your body burn muscle for fuel, but while doing so, your body is actually slowing down your metabolism.

When you lose muscle, you are lowering your metabolism. Lose the mindset: "eat less, weigh less." Restricting your calories will guarantee you a slower metabolism. The act of HEALTHY eating - which is prompting your body to process the supportive foods frequently - guarantees a faster metabolism. A faster metabolism means your body becomes a fat burning machine.

Barrier 3: Diet Addiction Diets don't work.

The health and fitness industry is banking on the fact that you either don't know this or won't believe it. But if you've tried to lose weight in the past on any kind of fad diet and you've gained the weight back and then some, you know what I mean. I know, you're probably thinking you have to be on a diet forever to have any kind of permanent weight loss. But nothing could be further from the truth. With rare exceptions, most people were born into normal weight bodies. But then we learned to diet instead of eating intuitively. Dieting causes the body to go into survival mode, i.e., starvation. Dieting signals deprivation to your body and sparks a biological drive to prime the body to maximize food intake and minimize energy burned to save itself. Making the best food choices is your secret weapon in the quest for over 40 fitness. Eating supportively will help you boost your metabolism, burn more fat and increase your energy dramatically. The goal here is to be FIT and HEALTHY and look great for YOUR body type.

Believe it or not, good nutrition is that powerful! And you can change your eating (or lack of eating) habits bite by little bite. Aim for at least one healthy choice each day and more supportive than the day before. Go for 2-3 improvements each week. Making these small nutritional changes will quickly add up to amazing results as you gain control over your metabolism.

Barrier 4: Ignoring the Fab 4

There are 4 essential components of fitness . If you want to get fit and avoid injury, you'll need some variations of all of them. Many clients complain about taking the time to stretch or just want to do cardio without weight training or weight training without cardio. You need them ALL. So here comes the excuse.

"My life is chaotic enough right now! I don't have time!" Well, you don't need a lot of time - but you will need some. And if living a healthy lifestyle is important to you, you'll have to make a commitment. But the more you do it, the more you'll want to do it. So what are they? Cardio exercise increases your metabolism so that you burn energy at a higher rate than if you weren't exercising. It reduces your appetite by turning on your sympathetic nervous system. This activates your "fight or flight" response . What does that mean? Try this:
The next time you feel a twinge to binge, take a quick walk or jog. Notice how you feel after you workout.

Your hunger will lessen or disappear altogether. Cardiovascular exercise, resistance training and flexibility exercises will help you lose extra weight that stresses out your joints. You'll strengthen the joints and elongate the muscles which reduce your risk of injury in your day to day activities.

Barrier 5: Leaving Your Goals to Chance

As a personal trainer, I see many clients grabbing their weights and strapping on their running shoes before they know exactly what it is they want to achieve. My advice to them and to you is - Leave Nothing to Chance. Research shows that writing down your health and fitness goals makes them 95% more achievable.

The more specific you are about what you want, the more likely you will do what is necessary to get it. First, check your expectations. Are your goals reasonable? While it would be nice to lose 20 pounds in 7 days, there is no safe way to make that happen. Unrealistic expectations undermine your efforts and make it difficult to stay on track. Look beyond the obvious. Set goals that can be measured with something other than a bathroom scale - like lowering your blood pressure by 10 points or increasing the distance you can walk or jog. When it comes to exercise, the most common excuse cards that get played are the queen of "not enough time" and the ace of "not convenient". You'll always be busy. And it's much easier to sit with a glass of wine or a bowl of ice cream than to jog to the corner or do crunches on a stability ball. But the truth is - they aren't valid excuses. You don't have to go to the gym, and you can carve out 30 minutes a day to work out. For years I exercised either first thing in the morning before work or at night after the kids went to bed with nothing except a couple of exercise videos, a few hand weights and a workout bench I bought at Goodwill for 5 bucks.

Start right where you are. If you don't (or can't) make time to do this FOR YOU, perhaps the problem isn't the fact that you're time crunched. Perhaps your life has gotten too out of control and the question now becomes priorities. Your health and well being should be at the top of the list! You can get started with minimal equipment and space. It's easy and inexpensive! The best advice I can give you is JUST GET STARTED. Start moving. Fidget! Ever notice those slim, hummingbird type people? Well, studies show that it isn't a mysterious food substance, cell, or hormone that makes these folks burn up fat like an iron frying pan - it's movement. Obviously, it's not THAT simple, but it is true that the more you move, in very subtle ways, the more calories your body will burn throughout the day. And that will have more than subtle positive effects!
  1. Balance & Flexibility
  2. Muscular Strength & Endurance
  3. Body Composition
  4. Aerobic Capacity
Your body composition shifts as you age. Weight gain after 40 and especially after age 50 is very common. The most dangerous type is around the mid-section because of its proximity to your organs, so it's the greatest risk for heart disease. The good news is that the combination of cardio, resistance training and flexibility exercises means that a healthy body composition will take care of itself! We lose an average of 5% of muscle mass every ten years after the age of 35 - if we don't do anything about it. A side effect of this is weight gain. If you don't intentionally rebuild muscle through exercise, and you're eating the same amount of food (or more) you ate when you were in your 30's - you'll gain. Muscle gives us the metabolic ability to burn calories EVERY time we move - whether we're active or at rest. Muscles constantly feed on calories even when you're lying on the couch with the remote in your hand.

7 Secrets of Permanent Fat Loss and Fitness

By
If one of your New Year's Resolutions, like my wife and me, is to lose weight and get fit then we need to start with a new attitude. Basically that means 100% commitment to this very daunting task. Losing weight has never been fun for my wife and me. We get hungry, have headaches and are irritable; and then use every excuse to eat something we should not have and claim it's due to stress. We are following a program that is already
working and have thus far been very pleased with how it fits into our lifestyle.

Eating fat burning foods and getting proper exercise are the keys. So if you are not into eating the right foods and adding an exercise routine nothing will change. Our meals are delicious and filling and prepared by my wife and me from the local grocer's shelves instead of arriving pre-packaged in a box.

Here are the 7 Secrets to live by if weight loss and fitness are really your goals:

(1) You have to make a lifestyle change

If your idea of fitness is going on a diet for a little while and taking a few aerobics classes, you're probably not going to succeed.

(2) Exercise Less but with more intensity-about 15 minutes each session

Not many people have ever told you to exercise less instead of more, right? Would you believe most people are exercising too much?

(3) Focus on the right foods that are nutrient rich. We've all seen the fad diet books and plans that promise all sorts of fabulous weight loss with very little effort. However, they require you to follow very unusual ways of eating that are not really common sense. The plan we are on has lots of great foods from your grocery store: some of which will surprise you.

(4) Know the numbers: what does this mean? If you don't know the numbers, you have little chance of success in fat loss and fitness. If you're not tracking what works and what doesn't work, you'll be using a shotgun approach that will take much longer.

(5) Surround yourself with positive people--VERY IMPORTANT! If you don't have support from your family and friends no weight loss program will likely work. You may find like we did that your family and friends may be making you fat!

(6) Get a coach or mentor-have someone you can talk to or chat online with that will give you encouragement and be able to answer your questions. This coach or mento could be a personal trainer who is also emotionally supportive, or it could be a combination of a friend or relative or motivational expert.

(7) Be a doer, not a talker-if you stated that losing weight was one of your resolutions for 2012 then stick to it

To get a full explanation for each of these 7 'secrets' you can get a free copy of this 40+ Page booklet. Just go to: http://www.smartbuysa2z.com , click on the home page and take time to read the full article and watch the videos. They make sense and will definitely work if you really want to make a change.
Let's all be REAL LOSERS this year!

Home Workout Routines - Your Key to Health and Fitness

By
Home workout routines are becoming very popular. A WebMD article reported that "63% of American adults are overweight or obese" That means that there is a serious need to do something about our health and fitness. Busy work schedules and family life makes it very hard to find the time to go to a gym, so that's why finding good home workout routines
are important.

Everyone wants to be in shape and have a youthful looking body, but we all know that it takes time and effort. Let's get one thing straight from the beginning. We all know if we are honest with ourselves that there is no magic pill or quick fix to losing weight. It takes good nutrition and moving our bodies. That is the only way to properly lose weight and keep it off. We must feed our bodies with nutritious foods and find a good home fitness plan and make it a lifestyle. And that is what it must become a "Lifestyle".

Home workout routines, which ones right for you?

You can change your fitness level by simply taking a walk after dinner each evening or during your lunch break at work. But for some that just isn't possible. Most home workout programs can be done by using a good top notch DVD fitness workout. You have seen the infomercials for Insanity, P90X and 10 Minute Trainer. These are all good home workout routines, but which one is the right one for you? That's the most important thing to find out. You want a home workout routine that will keep you interested and that is fun. Because remember, it has to be a lifestyle in order to keep the changes in weight loss and fitness.

Do you like to dance or maybe you where a high school or college athlete. Maybe you have never done any type of exercise before and this is your first time. There are many home workout routines that can meet your needs. Maybe you have a busy schedule. Well there are home workout routines for you too. To put it simply, "There is no Excuse". It is time to think about yourself and take charge of your health and fitness.

One great thing about a good home workout is that they are economical. A gym membership will cost you hundreds of dollors a year. A good workout DVD will only cost you $40 - $120. The workout DVD's usually have different levels of intensity which will give you a great return on it's usabilty for many years.

3 Steps to Success

I believe there are 3 major steps you must take in order to have a successful home workout program.

Gym Fitness Equipment - Training To Higher Levels to Achieve Better Fitness Goals

By
In this modern age when obesity is taking on the overtones of a national epidemic and proving a prospective problem to the government, many people are overtly worried about their fitness, and are now taking to the Gyms to get their body into an overall healthy shape and to enhance their fitness levels. Gyms have conveniently sprung up everywhere and people are making a beeline there to enjoy the advantages of regular workouts.
The Gyms, on their part are modernizing themselves with the latest and most efficient fitness equipment that will give their customers maximum workout benefit. This news has come as a breadth of fresh air to
beginners and established gym enthusiasts who are looking forward to take their training to higher levels to achieve better fitness goals. Read on and you will get a comprehensive idea on the type of fitness equipment a good gym will provide. You can use these facilities in a gym or have them installed at your home if you have the space and the convenience.

Floor Equipment

These could well work out as your first addition to the home gym equipment that you already possess, and could turn out as your most used pieces of home gym equipment. However, you should check on the product durability and the cushion thickness to ensure that it will be good for over thousand workouts and safeguard your spine at the same time.

Treadmill

As most of you are aware, the treadmill provides you an indoor alternative to outdoor jogging or running. You run on a conveyor-style belt that you can adjust to different speeds to allow you to enjoy customized workouts. These treadmills also provide facilities for inclines and interval training that enhances your options for workout. They also come with safety keys that help to thwart the possibilities of accidents.

Elliptical Machines

These machines provide a complete body workout. They tone up your muscles and improve your cardiovascular well-being without joint stress. The foot pedals that fit round your shoes for security provide for an elliptical or circular motion while the handles provide a good workout for your upper body. You can plan tougher workouts by adjusting the resistance and incline.

Stationary Bikes

Stationary bikes with a single front wheel are the indoor alternative to the Cardio exercise of cycling. These bikes have movable arms to afford a total body workout, cushioned seats and strapped pedals for enhanced safety and comfort and front wheel guards to prevent accidents. You can get these bikes in a recumbent, semi-recumbent or upright design.

Rowing

These machines provide a low impact workout and reduce the pressures on your joints. By working on this machine, which is akin to outdoor rowing, you work out both your upper and lower body equally. The great advantage here is that the machine is foldable and does not take up too much space.

However, take the advice of a physical trainer on the way to go about the above exercises and ask for the time duration, to avoid any problems of exaggerated efforts due to over-exuberance.

Easy Meals for Bodybuilders or Fitness Buffs

By
You've heard your Personal Trainer say it a thousand times "eat more protein!" And whether you are a cardio queen who's focus is weight loss and losing inches around the waist, or a hardcore bodybuilder who wants to add inches to his biceps, this is good advice. Protein shakes and meal bars are great
quick fixes for on the go people but the best nutrition sources are real food. No trainer or nutrition supplement rep can deny that.

Sometimes the last thing you want to do at the end of the day is come home from work and have to prepare yourself a good high protein meal. As prepared as we may try to be, planning out or making meals ahead of time isn't always easy either. Here's some great recipe ideas for a low maintenance and high protein meals using a crock pot or slow cooker.

Let's paint the picture. You wake up in the morning, grab your cup of coffee and maybe a quick and healthy bit to eat in the car ride to work. But what about dinner? No time to think of that in the morning? Wrong!
In the time it takes to jump in the shower and get dressed you can have a hot healthy meal for you when you get home. Here we go:

1. Dust off your Crock Pot and put it on the counter.

2. Grab that bag of defrosted chicken breasts out of the refrigerator, rinse them off and trim any fat. Toss 'em in the slow cooker.

3. Grab a handful of celery, carrots, and a medium sized onion. Quick chop them into big chunks. Throw them on top of the chicken.

4. Pour about 2 cups of low sodium chicken broth over the top. (This is an invaluable addition to a health conscious pantry by the way)

5. Add a dash or two of salt and pepper, cover and set to low.

Within 6-7 hours you'll have a hot meal waiting for you when you get home. Depending how long the slow cooker will be left stewing away, you may need to add a bit more liquid.

Another variation adds a little more pizazz to the recipe.

Instead of the celery, carrots and chicken broth, add a jar of your favorite salsa, a can of tomato paste, one big can of stewed whole tomatoes and half a cup of water. Toss in some chili powder for a little extra kick.
Experiment with these recipes and add your own variations. There is no wrong way to prepare a great

chicken meal. Bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts know the importance of great nutrition in achieving their goals. Eating right is easy... drop the excuses and you're drop the pounds! (Or gain muscle if that's your goal)

Your Fitness Goal for 2013

By
The two biggest New Year's resolutions for people are always to make more money and/or to lose weight.

Is losing weight a part of your fitness goal for the New Year? Have you mapped out a plan yet on how you're going to reach your fitness goal? What would motivate you this time to stick through thick and thin
to accomplish this goal?

The other day, I was listening to the great Bob Proctor in a YouTube seminar, one thing he said (being the great teacher that he is) stroke me like lightning. He said that - I'm paraphrasing here- if you are trying to lose weight you will not succeed or you will always gain it back because the way the mind is set is if you lose something, its job is to condition itself to get it back. In order word, after you "lose" weight or anything else for that matter, the mind subconsciously will go to work to sabotage your weight lost result.

To step into your fitness goal in 2013, you have to root for the cause and effect of your overhaul physical health according to the results you've getting thus far. Meaning to say that the reason why you gained weight is not the food in itself but your perception and belief behind the way you consume food and your understanding about exercises.

Most people when they want to "lose weigh" go on crash diets or try all kind of programs (which by the way are ingenious because of the science and hard work behind creating them) that never work for them. The reason why they fail over and over until they give up altogether is because, again, they try to treat the effect not the root cause.

You gain weigh primarily because of your belief about food. If you see food as something comforting that you entertain compare to a TV pastime or something to compensate yourself as a replacement to certain lack, you will gain weight. If you see exercise as a burden that you resist and disgust, or if you see gaining weight as an inevitable part of aging, you will always be out of shape and away from your fitness goal.

Your perception and your belief about any area of your life will always manifest accordingly and will always produce the same exact results until you go through some changes. Therefore, your belief about diet and exercises will show up in your life in the form of you being overweight, obese or you as a fitness specimen.

The first thing to do is to find out where your beliefs about food and exercise stand. Do you believe that the primary role of food in your diet is to refuel your energy level to enable you to go about your habitual physical and mental productivity and should be consumed in moderation? Or do you see food as something you can indulge in at anytime you want and thinking that it won't have any relevance to your overhaul health?

Do you look at your daily physical activities as a chore or do you pick a form of exercise that you like which automatically put you in the likelihood of keeping it up because you enjoy doing it? Do you believe that being overweight or obese can cause you your life leaving your loved ones with unnecessary suffering?

The key to the attainment of your fitness goal this year is to first ask yourself what are your beliefs about fitness and exercise. Do you believe that being obese can cost you your life? (Hint: it can and it does every day)-It all comes down to your belief system-. Then go to work on upgrading those beliefs through massive exposures with people and program with the type of mental conditioning that will help you make the switch. Apply the old adage: "eat to live, not live to eat". Happy New Year 2013!

What you believe creates your result.

Beauty and Fitness - Top Priorities in Our Conscious-Driven Society

By
Beauty and fitness are top priorities in our conscious-driven society. People are more proactive in terms of looking, feeling and being young. Males and females are both conscious of their diets and take it upon themselves to learn more on the kinds of food they should or should not eat, especially since there are many known foods that we believe are healthy, but turn out to contain hidden fats.

Fish, for instance, have omega-3 fatty acids that are highly beneficial for our bodies and make us eat just a bit better.

Because of this fatty acid, eating sushi rolls at Japanese restaurants should therefore be healthy. However, since some sushi rolls are lathered in cream cheese or mayonnaise, this increases the fat content of the dish.

Further, some sushi have fried or battered fish in them.

Since fish cooked in these ways shoot up the cholesterol levels of its serving, sushi rolls therefore are not entirely healthy as we would like to think them to be.

When it comes to snacking, we all love to munch on sweet, salty or sour foods. Taken in little moderation, dried fruit is the best type of snack for both male and females. Still, one must not forget that dried fruit contains added calories and sugars due to its density that make it more unhealthy. At the end of the day, fresh fruits are still the better option to snack upon.

In the past, granola was also considered a healthy food perfect for dieting and light snacking. Granola is indeed healthy, but one must be wary of its calories and fat due to the added sugar of the bars. A home-made granola with oatmeal, fruits and honey is the wiser choice compared to the commercially sold ones.

Some foods for lunch and dinner can likewise be deceiving to the eye. Contrary to common knowledge, a veggie burger for example is not a healthy choice at all because it has many bad qualities to it.

Though it is true that it contains far less fat and cholesterol than meat burgers, the component that binds the veggie patty together is actually made up of cheeses and dressings that are high in caloric content.

Hidden fats in common foods which we believe are good for us are a dime a dozen. Learning and researching the true health value of foods will help us look, feel and stay younger.

Are Home Cardio Workout and Fitness Programs Really That Good?

By
Not everyone can make it to the gym when they want, especially with today's hectic lifestyles. This can be particularly frustrating if you're following a fitness workout program for your weight loss management program.
Are there any good cardio and fitness programs on the market that pushes you, as if you were at the gym? One that you can do in the comfort of your own home? Are you better working from a book or a DVD workout?
One thing to consider about DVD format is that you can follow the program on a portable player at the gym instead of keep having to go back to look at a book.

1) But which one to choose?

2) Do you go for one that just does a cardio workout? Or one that targets an all over body workout?

3) Can you really get a good cardio workout in your home?

At least by working out at home when you've missed your gym session, you're not missing out on your fitness workout program.

Ideally all you need is your body and a little space to move about in, while following your workout. That's one question answered.

You should aim to workout as hard at home as you would in the gym. If you really are serious about your fitness then you really should be able to exercise anywhere. So that's another question answered.

Doing a workout out that targets all the major muscle groups intensely in a short period of time helps with both cardio and fitness. Another question answered.

So by the end of the workout you know you worked your body. But should you just be satisfied with a cardio and fitness workout? The physical side alone is not enough, it's no use completing a great workout, then eating and drinking the same old junk.

How about a nutritional guide and a recipe book that compliments the precise exercises that you're doing to help your achieve your goals? What use is a nutrition guide if you haven't got an idea on how to cook the ingredients that maximize the use of the food that you're putting in your body?

So the main answer has to be yes, any fitness program that gives you the best home cardio and fitness workout, plus nutritional guide, recipe book and progress chart will surely help you.

Most experts agree, cardio and fitness training alone is not the whole picture, it involves diet and nutritional change as well. Basically it's a full lifestyle change. But one that reaps rewards not only in how you look, but most importantly, how good you feel.

Train hard, live easy.

I myself, am a gym addict, I go because I really enjoy exercise and the different types of exercises that can be done there. I exercise for my own general health as I now have a heart condition(hereditary) and need to stay on top of it.However, in my past I've trained mainly because of my career ( I was in the forces) and for the sports I took part in, soccer, rugby, American football and free-style kickboxing.I also became a kickboxing instructor (2nd Degree Black Belt), teaching students from beginner to black belt level.

Healthy Fitness for Women - How to Get Fit Now!

By
For women, getting fit and losing weight has always been difficult. There are so many life changes that happen along the way that interfere with the ability to get fit and lose weight naturally. Hormones, pregnancy, menopause, and post menopause all play a part in keeping the weight on. It is particularly hard for older women to lose weight as you get older the total amount of muscle starts to go down and the amount of body fat increases so fewer calories get burned.

Eating more fruits and vegetables

In a recent study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics which looked at eating habits in women, those that increased their intake of fruits and vegetables were able to lose weight and keep it off than women that had not made a change in their eating habits. Those that were able to let go of some of the sugary desserts and beverages and ate less meat or cheese lost even more weight.

What we should take away from this study is that even if you continue to have poor eating habits when it comes to some foods, if you add additional food and make it fruits and vegetables you might be able to maintain your weight or lose a little. This is probably due to the fact that if you are eating more fruits and veggies you are probably not consuming as much of the heavy calorie items because you are not as hungry.

So get some more fruits and veggies in the house.

Good carbohydrates

The results of many studies indicate that a low carbohydrate high protein diet can result in weight loss, lower cholesterol and help prevent diabetes and heart disease. A very restrictive diet in carbohydrates is also very difficult to do. To get the best of both worlds try to restrict the amount of sugary items you eat and eat good carbs. Good carbohydrates are complex carbohydrates which include high fiber breads, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, and brown rice.

Eat good quality protein

Eating protein should be an important part of any women's fitness and healthy diet plan. Proteins make you feel fuller so that you don't overeat and they are a source of essential amino acids. Protein includes meats, nuts, eggs, fish, soy, legumes, wheat germ, beans, and dairy products. If you are worried about the fat in foods with protein stick to lean meats, and low fat cheeses. Proteins function in the body is to repair cells and create new cells.

Exercise

Exercise has to be part of any fitness for women plan. You do not have to exercise all the time to reap the benefit of exercise. Doing some kind of aerobic exercise three times a week for twenty minutes is all you need to do to get fit. Add in some resistance work such as free weights and between eating healthier and exercising you will be on your way to a healthy body.

Diet and Fitness Tips for Lasting Weight Loss for Kids and Teens

By
One of the largest challenges that any child can face is being overweight. Not only are overweight children more likely to be heavy adults, but they also face many emotional and physical side effects even as kids because of the extra weight. They may become withdrawn, suffer from low self-esteem, and avoid activities that they enjoy because they feel that they are too overweight to
participate.
If your child or teenager is overweight and needs to lose weight, they can follow some of these easy-to-use diet and fitness tips. These will help them change their minds about healthy food and get moving in a fun, yet effective, way.

Diet Tips
No one wants to go on a "diet" and kids most certainly will balk at the idea of diet food. But healthy eating principles are more than just a fad diet or something that will last for a few weeks. Nutritious noshing should be an essential part of any child's everyday life (as well as any adult!) and so kids need to apply principles to their everyday eating that can be turned into long-term habits. Some ways that kids can change how they eat and lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way include:
  • Cut back on junk food, but do not cut it out completely. Many kids struggle with feeling like they cannot eat the things that they really love because they are on a diet. If your teen or kid simply eats what they love in moderation, filling up on the good stuff and then having junk food as an occasional treat, they can lose weight and keep it off. As soon as a kid thinks that they can never have French fries or candy again, they will covet them even more. Moderation is the key with junk food.

  • Focus on eating at the table and not in front of the television. Kids should avoid eating in front of the television or the computer, because this is when they eat when they are not hungry and eat more than they need to. Try encouraging everyone in the family to eat meals and snacks at the kitchen table.

  • Avoid fast foods and make meals and snacks at home. Fast food can be dangerous to any healthy lifestyle. Children who eat meals and snacks at home as opposed to at fast food restaurants tend to be at healthier weights than those who exist solely on drive-through fare.

  • Build meals around fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins and minerals and are the perfect base for any meal or snack. Kids can lose weight simply from swapping French fries and candy for veggies and fruits.
Exercise Tips
No healthy life makeover for kids is complete without exercise. Some top tips for kids to follow to get in shape and stay healthy include:
  • Move for 20-30 minutes a day. Kids can walk their dog around the blog, go for a jog, shoot hoops in the front yard, jump rope or any other physical activity for 20-30 minutes per day. This can help them to get active and burn calories while doing something that is enjoyable.

  • Take up a new sport. Sports are one of the best ways for kids and teens to lose weight because they are fun and they foster a sense of connection with other kids. Look for neighborhood baseball or soccer leagues, sports at school that are "no cut" sports (like track and cross country) or even sports leagues at your local gym or church.

  • Play video games that are active. Many new video games combine video game play with exercise, such as Wii games. Kids can play these for a half an hour or so after school and get the necessary activity they need to be healthy.
Teenagers and children can also find out more healthy eating tips and exercise tactics when they attend fitness camps. These summer weight loss camps can help them to foster healthful eating habits, learn new exercises and make new friends all at the same time. They can help to teach kids methods for weight loss that they can use for the rest of their lives. They may also help kids who were suffering from low self-worth to get out of their shells and meet new people.

Kids and teenagers do not have to spend the rest of their lives overweight, as long as they adopt healthful eating habits and make exercise a part of their daily lives.

Joe Busch specializes in writing articles related to healthy weight loss for kids. He focuses on proper diets, exercise, and weight loss camps. Parents with children that struggle with their weight should consider a weight loss camp for teens to jump start the process.

Five Tips For Avoiding Toxic Fitness Supplements

By
Workout Supplements have forever changed the fitness world. Once strictly marketed to hardcore bodybuilders, these supplements have become mainstream, used widely by a variety of demographics. One aspect of the supplement world however is quite troublesome. The Food and Drug Administration very loosely regulate new and current products.

Most products are marketed as "dietary supplements" which enable them to bypass many FDA regulations. Recently, there have been a fair amount of incidents involving products that are tainted by hardcore anabolic chemicals, and products that contain ingredients other than those listed on the bottle.

Most notably, the death of Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler in 2003 caused the FDA to ban ephedra, an herbal stimulant marketed to athletes. However, it took six years to ban the substance after the FDA issued its first warning. There have also been reports of athletes testing positive for banned substances, and then discovering that the culprit was their multivitamin, which was tainted with anabolic agents.

The essential problem is that products don't need to be proven to be safe before hitting the market, and are very difficult to remove from the market due to "grey market" Internet sites that specialize in marketing these questionable products.

Various bodybuilding sites argue that there a many more serious issues to be focusing on as opposed to supplement regulation. One such site lists the top twenty causes of death in the United States; the list does not include dietary supplements.

The fault in this argument is that many of those causes of death are not preventable through simple regulation.

Among these is heart disease, cancer, and drug related deaths. The bottom line is that while the FDA debates how to regulate a growing supplement market; consumers are at risk of health complications arising from poorly manufactured, yet powerful chemicals.

Here are five strategies prospective buyers can employ to reduce risk:
- Research, research, research. The wisdom of the crowd is often the most accurate. Always gather information from multiple sources before beginning to use a product. Often the best sources are those who have already tried the product and have posted online about their experience.

- Avoid products that use the words "tren" or "anabolic" in their titles. These products are the area where especially many cases of health complications have arisen.

- Do not purchase cheaper, second-rate products. You get what you pay for, so pay that extra five dollars to go with a trusted brand. You do not want to risk your health to save a buck.

- Make an investment. Experts gladly sell their knowledge to those who will listen. Especially when it comes to questionable products, experts know what is safe and what isn't. Investing in their knowledge via book, e-book, or personal training is highly recommended.

- While taking the supplement, if you experience nausea, insomnia, chronic itchiness or loss of appetite, these could be signs of liver damage and use should be discontinued and a physician contacted immediately.

Tips To Choose the Best Fitness Equipment Cleaning Machines

By
Fitness equipment cleaning machines should have the capability to sanitize a surface in addition to cleaning it. Fitness equipment and exercise tools must be impeccably clean and hygienic. People come to fitness centers to maintain their body shape and keep their good health. If the equipment are unhygienic, people can catch skin diseases.
In short, it is mandatory that exercise equipment are sanitized regularly. So, which are the best fitness equipment cleaning machines available at the moment?

 Right machine

Among the cleaning machines available at present, only pressure wash systems and floor steamers have the requisite output power to clean fitness equipment. Pressure wash machines clean with their high pressure output. Pressure water machines do not necessarily sanitize the surfaces unless the heat output is high.

Steam cleaning machines clean with their high output temperature. These machines eject their output on to hard surfaces. The output melts the dirt and other impure substances present on the fitness tools. The dissolved dirt can be removed either manually or with the help of a vacuum.

One problem is that there are a large number of floor steamers available at present and all of them are not the best fitness equipment cleaning machines.

Here are a few tips to buy the right kind of fitness equipment cleaning machines:
Higher output

The output has to be higher for cleaning exercise tools. Most of the fitness equipment are made of metal or other similar hard materials. The surfaces can withstand even high temperature output. The best machines for the task should be able to produce a high temperature output.

Some of the latest models of steam cleaners can produce an output temperature as high as 386°F. These machines should do a good job of cleaning fitness equipment.

Another desired aspect in steam cleaners used for this task would be dry vapor output. Dry vapor refers to the state of water in which the liquid water content of the output is less than 5 percent. With dry vapor output, less amount of water is transferred on to the surfaces, making the cleaning faster.

Anti-microbial technology

The role of steam cleaners to clean fitness tools does not limit to just cleaning. These portable steam cleaner machines should sanitize the surface as well. The high temperature output of a vapor steam cleaner helps eliminate germs to some extent.

To ensure the best hygiene of the fitness tools, it is advisable to use steam cleaning equipment with an anti-bacterial technology. This technology ensures that most of the commonly occurring disease-causing microorganisms are removed from the surfaces. That means vapor steamer machines equipped with this technology ensures that the fitness seekers do not catch any skin diseases.

Attached vacuum

A steam vacuum cleaner means a floor steamer equipped with a vacuum. These machines can extract the dirt immediately after melting the impurities. Steam vacuum cleaner machines are best suited for cleaning fitness equipment.

Buy portable steam cleaner machines that make the cleaning process faster and more efficient.
Daimer Industries is a leading supplier of steam cleaners to clean fitness tools. Daimer provides a complete range of vapor steamer machines including steam vacuum cleaner machines and many more.

This allows your body to let go of the fat stores, since it is getting a regular supply of calories & nutrients from your meals. Ideally, you should be having around 6 to 8 meals in a day.

2. Watch what you eat

Your diet should supply you with proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins & minerals. Make sure you have enough fruits & vegetables to take care of your nutritional requirement. Also, include protein sources such as white meat, eggs & pulses on a daily basis. Avoid oily food products completely. This includes most packaged snacks. The excess sugar in ice-creams, cakes & pastries is converted into fat. So stay away from them!

3. Aerobic workouts

Aerobics is any exercise which increases the body's uptake of oxygen over a period of time. Aerobic workouts include cycling, swimming, running, dancing & brisk walking. This form of exercise activity is believed to be the most effective way of burning out calories. In combination with a customized diet program, your body should rid itself of the excess fat in no time.

4. Strength Training

Strength training is the best way to both tone up your muscles & also increase your metabolic rate. The exercised muscles demand energy supply long after the exercise session, leading to an effective usage of the stored fat.
