Fat Loss Tips for the Busy Mom

By
Fat loss tips are everywhere you look - magazines, books, television, the internet. But, how do you know what really works?
Well, there's a foundation that you should consider in your weight loss plan. It's simple and easy to implement in your everyday life for the weight loss you've always wanted.
Nutrition = 75% of Your Results
Yup. Nutrition plays the main role in your weight loss efforts.
I considered myself very disciplined with exercise, and was always very athletic growing up. However, as I got older, I noticed that I was starting to pack on the weight.
Call it Freshman 15, or the Newlywed 15, whatever. And then I got pregnant. I gained a whopping 54 pounds with my first pregnancy.

That amount of weight doesn't look good on a 5'1" frame. I lost 58 pounds the year after I had my baby, mainly by changing up my nutrition. Here's how you can do it.
  1. Eat more fruits, vegetables, beans, and lentils instead of meat, dairy, and white carbohydrates.
  2. Drink more water. Quit drinking calories.
  3. Limit the amount of processed food you eat - chips, cookies, crackers.
  4. Eat 6 small meals a day (around 300-350 calories per meal) rather than 3 large meals a day.
  5. Enjoy one cheat day where you could eat whatever you want.
And you know what, those 5 basic nutrition fat loss tips really helped me drop the pregnancy weight almost effortlessly. You, too, can lose weight just by following these tips, without lifting a single weight or going for a jog in the park.

Exercise Blasts Belly Fat

So now that you know that what you eat is very important, exercise is the next thing you have control over to increase the amount of weight you lose. Exercise helps by burning calories.

When you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. So, do any exercise to burn fat that you enjoy to do.

It's very important that you enjoy the activity because it is more likely for you to incorporate it into your daily routine. Otherwise, it's something you dread, and will find any excuse to avoid it.

I personally enjoy walking and running. It helps me clear my head, get some fresh air, and relieve some stress.

I take my 2 year old son, Lucas, and my dog, Cooper, with me. I walk or run 5-6 days a week.
It's become so routine that if I don't exercise, I feel like my day is off. That's how integrated exercise is in my daily life.

When exercise becomes a part of your everyday life, you'll find that losing weight isn't hard anymore. It's just who you are.

You become the slim, flat tummy mom that you always envisioned for yourself because you incorporated a sound nutrition guide with a weight loss exercise plan that you actually like to do. Your lifestyle is one that is full of energy and confidence because you succeeded in losing all (or more!) of your pregnancy weight with these simple, easy fat loss tips.

Fat Loss 101 - Believe That You Can

By
In the third part of the fat loss series I want to address the importance of believing in you. When you watch infomercials and see before and after pictures there is a disclaimer at the bottom that states 'results may vary' or 'results not typical'. This is because one of the three items was missing; commitment to make better choices, a technology that works, or a belief that you can. If you commit to making better choices and find a technology that works; then all that is missing is the belief that you can.

I find the vast majority of people when looking for the best fat loss plans or best fat loss programs truly don't believe that they can change. Believing and wanting to change are two different things. It is easy to want. Saying I want to lose body fat is easy. Believing that you can is another. Everyone wants something very few ever get
what they want.

It is not uncommon for someone to start a fat loss program with the best of intentions. They believe they can use will power to get them through the program. In reality will power only buys you a couple of days. In fact will power usually doesn't kick in until day three or four and quickly fads away between days eight and fourteen. Most fat loss programs target this two week window. The marketing is designed to feed upon the individuals emotional needs and achieve a fast result. The programs are designed to provide fast results to strengthen the belief that you can do it. Resolve gets tested. Excuses begin to arise.

Distractions become obstacles. It is at this point that distinguishes those who can and those who won't succeed. It is the person who has a strong enough belief in themselves that will go on to be successful. The person that truly doesn't believe they will succeed will not. Think of the first two weeks on a fat loss program as a jump start to developing a habit. On average it takes 28 days to make a habit. It is going to be your belief that you can and your commitment to make better choices that will allow you to press on after will power is no longer the driving force.

There are hundreds of books and resources discussing the power of belief so I am not going to go into all the science and research. What I am going to tell you is that if you have doubt in yourself and you do not believe you can be successful you are selling yourself short and I truly believe you will never be happy or satisfied with who you are. Remember this quote "whether you think you can or can not, you are right".

When starting a fat loss program make sure it meets the criteria "A Technology that Works". If the program meets the criteria then it is up to you to bring a commitment to make better choices and a belief that you can. If all three are present you will succeed.

7 Secrets of Permanent Fat Loss and Fitness

By
If one of your New Year's Resolutions, like my wife and me, is to lose weight and get fit then we need to start with a new attitude. Basically that means 100% commitment to this very daunting task. Losing weight has never been fun for my wife and me. We get hungry, have headaches and are irritable; and then use every excuse to eat something we should not have and claim it's due to stress. We are following a program that is already
working and have thus far been very pleased with how it fits into our lifestyle.

Eating fat burning foods and getting proper exercise are the keys. So if you are not into eating the right foods and adding an exercise routine nothing will change. Our meals are delicious and filling and prepared by my wife and me from the local grocer's shelves instead of arriving pre-packaged in a box.

Here are the 7 Secrets to live by if weight loss and fitness are really your goals:

(1) You have to make a lifestyle change

If your idea of fitness is going on a diet for a little while and taking a few aerobics classes, you're probably not going to succeed.

(2) Exercise Less but with more intensity-about 15 minutes each session

Not many people have ever told you to exercise less instead of more, right? Would you believe most people are exercising too much?

(3) Focus on the right foods that are nutrient rich. We've all seen the fad diet books and plans that promise all sorts of fabulous weight loss with very little effort. However, they require you to follow very unusual ways of eating that are not really common sense. The plan we are on has lots of great foods from your grocery store: some of which will surprise you.

(4) Know the numbers: what does this mean? If you don't know the numbers, you have little chance of success in fat loss and fitness. If you're not tracking what works and what doesn't work, you'll be using a shotgun approach that will take much longer.

(5) Surround yourself with positive people--VERY IMPORTANT! If you don't have support from your family and friends no weight loss program will likely work. You may find like we did that your family and friends may be making you fat!

(6) Get a coach or mentor-have someone you can talk to or chat online with that will give you encouragement and be able to answer your questions. This coach or mento could be a personal trainer who is also emotionally supportive, or it could be a combination of a friend or relative or motivational expert.

(7) Be a doer, not a talker-if you stated that losing weight was one of your resolutions for 2012 then stick to it

To get a full explanation for each of these 7 'secrets' you can get a free copy of this 40+ Page booklet. Just go to: http://www.smartbuysa2z.com , click on the home page and take time to read the full article and watch the videos. They make sense and will definitely work if you really want to make a change.
Let's all be REAL LOSERS this year!

Fat Loss Confusion - The Real Barrier to Permanent Weight Loss

By
Confusion reigns! There is probably more confusion in the area of weight loss than almost any other. Most people just don't know whom to believe. Day after day I hear this: -
How do I get the body I want? How do I go about it? I am so confused about what works and what doesn't. There seems to be so much information around about fat loss and yet I am more confused than ever.

There are more gyms and fitness centres around the world than ever before. And there are thousand (probably millions) of people sweating away even as you read this. They are bashing away at the treadmill, the climber and the cross-trainer in a vain attempt to burn off that ugly fat.
They might also be lifting weights for hours on end several times a week And don't forget the aquarobics classes.

Oh -- and then there is dieting. Every day a new miracle diet hits the streets. And each one is more expensive than the last. The only thing that is getting thinner is their wallet and they still have the supplements to pay for -- the miracle pills that will drop you 50 pound in a week.

Every morning they hopefully jump on the scales only to have their hopes dashed -- every morning! The weight goes up a few pound and the diet and the scales go right out of the window -- to be replaced by the latest fad diet.

Still this should not be surprising. This is the sort of behavior that the "fitness gurus" typically encourage. The problem is that there is just too much advice and too many diets and fitness regimes on the market for any one to make sense of it.

With any exercise or nutrition program, you'll probably lose some fat initially, but far too often the progress stalls and the required results don't come as fast as you would like. This is often because you are too focused on short-term results and just one specific goal. So you switch and the next plan doesn't deliver fast enough either. And so the cycle of confusion and frustration continues.

I firmly believe that what I have described here is the main reason why we live in a society that is consumed by the need to lose weight but at the same time has the highest level of obesity in history. People are flitting madly from one fad diet or exercise routine to another while losing sight of what really works.

In a nutshell, they are exercising too much, not intensely enough and looking for short-term results.

If they were to draw up a long-term plan, a lifestyle plan if you like, and not worry about "losing 20 pounds before Christmas" they would make much better, and sustainable progress.

The plan should include short but intense resistance training, a good nutrient rich diet, drinking plenty of water and getting a good night's sleep.

No confusion there!

One more thing...

If you've tried dieting and you've tried exercise and you are still struggling to lose weight you might want to grab a copy of my free report "The Big Weight-Loss Lie".
It details the reasons why you may not be losing the fat that you want to lose -- and better still suggests ways in which you might get more success.

How to Achieve a Complete Body Fat Loss

By
Is a complete body fat loss a myth? Well it is impossible to lose all of the fat from your body, but I am sure that isn't your goal anyways. Luckily for you, it is possible to lose fat from every part of your body and thus achieve a complete body fat loss.
It's a proven fact that as you
grow older your body tends to naturally accumulate more fat. This means that you need to treat your body more carefully and start taking steps towards a complete body fat loss today.

Before you do anything else you need to understand your body's current fat percentage.

Your body fat percentage is the amount of fat that your body consists of. For example, if you are 170 pounds and 10% fat, that means your body contains 17 pounds of fat and 157 pounds of lean body mass. A certain amount of fat is essential to keep your body functioning and this is why it is impossible to have zero fat on your body. Although you may hate fat, it does some great things for you such as: regulates your body's internal temperature, cushions and insulates organs, and stores extra energy for you to use later.

Now that you understand fat I am going to show you how to start your complete body fat loss. First of all, set realistic goals? If you are obese right now you will be able to easily lose much more fat than someone who is just barely overweight. The essential amount of fat a women requires is approximately 10-12%, while men require only around 2-4% fat. Take these numbers into consideration while constructing your weight loss goals. Remember your health is the most important thing.

Keep Muscle: Eat Protein

- You don't want to lose any of that hard earned muscle during your complete body fat loss. Therefore you need to eat extra protein in order to protect your muscles from being burned as fuel. The more muscle you have on your body the faster your metabolism works. A fast metabolism is one of the main keys to a complete body fat loss.

Your Body Adapts: Switch it Up

- Just as your body adapts to the same workout routine, so does it to your calorie intake. If you are planning a long-term fat loss it is essential that you mix up the amount of calories you are eating every day. Rather than making drastic calorie reductions pay attention to the foods you eat. Putting the right foods in your body is the most effective way to burn fat.

Your Meals and Snacks: How to Choose Them

- If you are like most people struggling to lose body fat, your main problem is the meals and snacks you fuel your body with. Even if you follow a great workout routine, your complete body fat loss results will be minimal if you are not eating the right foods. It is important to eat lots of fat burning foods you like and to never go on a "crash diet".

Aerobics and Fat Loss - Is it the Only Way?

By
It is commonplace to see articles on the internet and in magazines regarding the fat burning effects of aerobic exercise. Regarded as the only way to burn fat, we will explore aerobic exercise and the reason many believe (or are willing to believe) this, as well as other means of losing body fat.

Why does this belief exist?

The word "aerobic" means "with oxygen". During aerobic exercise, the muscles have already depleted adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the energy source responsible for human movement (ATP/CP pathway), and has surpassed the glycolytic pathway (when glucose is broken down to produce energy).

Finally, energy is produced with oxygen and lactic acid (a byproduct of glucose/glycogen) to resynthesize glycogen to produce energy. This is used when activities last beyond two minutes at a pace that allows enough time for beta-oxidation, the process of fat being broken down. This oxidative pathway is the only energy pathway that burns and utilizes fat for energy. For this reason, many consider aerobic exercise the only way to burn fat.

Is this belief valid?

Whether a trainee is at a beginner, intermediate, or advanced level, they can benefit from aerobic training, when incorporated into a workout schedule to achieve fat loss. Although these benefits are proven by experience and science, this belief is not completely valid because it is not the only means for fat loss.

Eat to burn fat.

Eat at least five-six meals per day.

Eating at least five meals a day that contain the proper ratio of macronutrients (1 part fat, 2 parts protein and three parts carbs) will lower your body's need to store fat, allowing the body to utilize more fat for energy.

Create a caloric deficit.

By burning more calories than the amount consumed, you create a caloric deficit. The body in turn uses fat to make up for the additional calories it needs.

Make sure to get adequate rest.

Although sleep does not burn fat directly, it allows the body to repair damaged muscle and hormonal harmony. This allows the body to perform optimally, making it easier to lose fat.

Conclusion

All that is said in regards to the fat burning effects of aerobic exercise is reputable. Many neglect the major role nutrition play, but what and how you eat can make or break your goals. It is the important for professionals in the fitness industry to share this knowledge to ensure the success of their clients.

Workout for Rapid Fat Loss

By
By far the best way to lose fat is to follow a program that combines weight training, cardio and burst training.. You don't have to spend hours in the gym to do this. Listed below is a sample routine that I have found to be very effective for fat loss.

1. Weight Lifting: You do not need to join a gym to get a good resistance workout. With A set of adjustable dumbbells and a bench you can get a great full body workout. Try to do one exercise for each major body part. I like to follow the 12, 10, 8, 6 rep format. As an example, to work your chest do a dumbbell bench press. Start with a weight that you can easily do, this gets your body warmed up. After doing 12 reps take a 30 second break, increase your weight and do 10 reps. Take another 30 second break and repeat with 8 reps. Your final 6 reps should be at a weight that pushes you to the limit. After your 6 reps take a 1 minute break then move on to the next body part. Following this plan you should be able to complete a full body workout in about 1 hour or less.

2. Cardio: For cardio you just need to pick an exercise that you enjoy and do it for at least 30 minutes. I prefer running, but swimming, biking, basketball or any other activity that gets your heart rate up will work. It is best if it is something that you enjoy. When you enjoy the exercise it will be easier to stick with it and lose weight. To keep it fresh and new try rotating exercises. One day run, on your next cardio day ride a bike and the next cardio workout go for a swim.

3. Burst training: Probably the best weight loss exercise routine. It only takes about 15 minutes but it really jump starts your metabolism. Burst training consists of doing exercises in a circuit one after the other at max intensity with little rest between exercises. Usually after about 10 minutes you will be completely spent.

The weekly routine I follow is to do weights on Monday and Friday. Cardio on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and Burst training on Wednesday. By Sunday I am happy to give my body a break. Try this routine and I think you will be surprised at your quick fat loss.

Quick Fat Loss: Use These Bodybuilding Tips

By
If you are looking to drop fat fast for an up coming event like a wedding or a class reunion these tips should get you on your way. Ideally you want to lose 1-2 lbs per week. This approach is much healthier and far easier to maintain over a longer period of time. However if the event has snuck up on you then these methods are sure to work for quick fat loss. Basically you will be employing techniques that bodybuilders have used for years to shred weight before competitions. Why would you want to do what body builders do? Because it works.

1. Cut back on carbs: Make sure that you limit the intake of carbohydrates. Be sure to cut out all processed foods like soda's bread and boxed foods. You do need complex carbohydrates to refuel your body. Try eating sweet potatoes, veggies and oat meal, but in limited amounts.

2. Lift weights: The best way to burn fat is to build muscle. Make sure you are doing a full body workout at least twice a week.

3. Burst training: Burst training gets your metabolism racing and burns off the fat much quicker. Burst training can be done with a multitude of exercises, be sure to switch them up.Do burst training three times a week while you are in the quick fat loss mode.

4. Eat 6 small meals: Instead of eating 3 big meals, spread them out into 6 smaller meals at intervals of around 2 to 3 hours each. Be sure to include plenty of veggies and protein. The protein will keep you from losing muscle during your weight loss. Make sure to keep the portion sizes to about the size of your palm for protein and carbs. One great way to control portion sizes is to use smaller plates.

Following these strategies will help you quickly fit into that dress or suit. Just keep in mind you will not be able to achieve the body of your dreams in a short time. A super fit body can only be achieved over time and with hard work. One great thing these tips will do is to get you in the habit of following a plan. So after the event you are dropping the fat for, you should immediately start a diet and fitness plan that emphasizes healthy weight loss. This way you will be in great shape the next time a major event comes up.

Fat Burning Foods for Effortless Fat Loss

By
Losing weight is easier when we incorporate fat burning foods into our diet. Fat burning foods work in a variety of ways. Some work because the combination of their components increases our metabolic rate. Some work due to being low in calories and because they require more energy to digest. Others work because they are low in calories and even when ingesting a small quantity of the particular food we feel full. The cooking method selected can also result in a lower calorie count, which ultimately equates to increased fat loss.

Regularly eating fat burning foods with the above qualities will, over time, result in effortless fat loss. Add exercise into the mix, and fat loss will occur at an even faster rate.

Fat Burning Foods - 10 of the Best:
Fruit
Along with being good for us and tasting great, most fruits have excellent fat burning properties. Citrus fruit, in particular, has an abundance of vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, which is a proven fat burner. It also has a high water content and a low calorie count. Citrus fruits include oranges, lemons, limes, grape fruit, kiwi fruit, mandarins, tangerines, kumquats and clementines. Other fruits high in vitamin C include apples, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, plums, grapes and tomatoes.

Fruit, in general, increases metabolism and reduces bad cholesterol levels, so try to include it in your diet every day. An easy way of doing this is to have fruit for breakfast and if you feel like a snack, make it fruit.

Blueberries, bananas, mangoes, papaya and pomegranates are other healthy, delicious and satisfying fruits to incorporate into your diet on a regular basis.

Vegetables
The majority of vegetables are low in calorie and contain vitamins and minerals that rev up our metabolism. Most are also fat free and even lower in carbs than fruit. Vegetables that can be eaten in abundance include spinach, broccoli, cabbage, artichokes, beans and peas. Cucumbers, lettuce and celery are also excellent choices because of their very low calorie and high water content.

Due to their higher calorie count, potatoes and sweet potatoes or yams should be eaten in moderation. When you do eat these, try to cook them with their skin on as the skin is a great source of insoluble fiber.

When cooking vegetables, steaming or boiling will not add any calories. If you want to stir-fry your veggies, do so in the so called "good" oils such as olive, soybean, sunflower or sesame oil. Steer clear of deep frying and heavy, fat laden sauces. Instead, use fresh herbs and spices to add flavour.

Oats and Barley
Cereals containing oats or barley are excellent fat burners due to their high insoluble fiber content. Foods containing insoluble fiber satisfies our hunger and keeps us feeling full for longer. When we feel satiated we are less likely to eat large meals or snack on junk food.

Edible Pulses
Chickpeas (garbanzos) and lentils fall under the category of edible pulses, or legumes. They are nutritious, satisfying and with the addition of herbs and spices, very tasty. They are also low in calories and cholesterol, high in fiber and abundant in amino-acids/plant protein.

The variety of uses for these edible pulses is only limited by your imagination. They can be eaten hot in soups or stews or cold in salads and, containing close to 25% protein, they make an ideal meat substitute for vegetarians who can find it hard to get sufficient protein in their diets. Other edible pulses include kidney, navy, string, lima, bush and soy beans and peanuts.

Eggs
In the old days we were told that eating eggs resulted in high cholesterol and that we should only eat the whites and maybe one or two whole eggs per week. Medical opinion on this has changed, and eating an egg a day is now not just considered safe, but encouraged.

Eggs provide us with protein and minerals. They are quite low in calories and low in the saturated, or "bad" fat we should avoid. Some studies have, in fact, shown that a regular consumption of eggs can increase our level of "good" cholesterol.

Veggie omelets combine two fat burning foods. They are quick and easy to make, and the vegetables, herbs and spices used can be changed around so they never become boring.

Some dietary studies have concluded that those who eat an egg for breakfast on a daily basis, along with or instead of toast and cereal, lose double the amount of weight as dieters who eat a carbohydrate based breakfast.

Nuts
Nuts are filling, nutritious and they contain monounsaturated fatty acids, also known as MUFA's. These healthy fats actually burn fat. This makes nuts a far better snack choice than a donut or candy bar and they are just as convenient to grab on the run or pack in your lunch box. Nuts can also be used as an ingredient in salads and stir-fries, or as a coating when baking fish.

We've all had it drummed into us that fats make us fat. You may be surprised to know that this is not necessarily the case, and that people who lack healthy fats in their diet are far more prone to piling on the pounds than those who regularly include moderate amounts of healthy fat. The key here is moderation. Eat a small handful of peanuts, pecans, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, almonds or walnuts every day and reap the health and weight loss benefits. Any more than a small handful though, and you will risk consuming too many calories.

Fish
Fish is an excellent source of protein and being rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, provides us with the good fats our bodies need to stay healthy. It is also low in calories and saturated fat. Any fish is good, providing it is grilled, baked or pan fried and not deep fried or smothered in heavy calorie-laden sauce. The best sources of omega-3 fatty acids include salmon, mackerel, trout and tuna.

Chicken and Turkey
For those who eat meat, white meat such as chicken and turkey is a better option than red meat. Chicken and turkey are excellent fat burning foods as they are high in protein with a low calorie count and carbohydrate level. High protein foods take longer to digest than foods with a low protein content, and more energy is expended in the process. It's important not to consume the chicken or turkey skin as these are high in fat. If you must have red meat, limit it to a small serving two to three times a week at most, and choose lean cuts or pork. As with other foods, the way it is cooked and ingredients added can increase the calorie count substantially.

Water
While not a food, water deserves to be included in this list. Water is essential for life. It keeps our metabolism ticking over, therefore it helps us burn body fat. It also helps flush toxins from our system and it is calorie free.

Foods that contain a lot of water impart a feeling of fullness, so we need less of the food to feel satisfied. Examples include cantaloupes, cucumbers, gourds, chard, papaya and watermelon.

When possible, choose whole foods over processed or refined food, using the fat burning foods above for reference. These fat burning foods contain lower levels of fat and sugar and less calories and carbohydrates than cakes, cookies, pizza and the like. Centering your diet around the former foods and limiting consumption of the latter will ulitmately result in a healthy weight loss.

I hope you enjoyed my article. Click link to find out about 5 of the tastiest foods that burn fat and check out my blog for diet tips and advice including info on the best diets to lose weight.

Exercise for Fat Loss: Cardio or Weights?

By
You have probably heard the question debated before: which is best for fat loss, cardiovascular exercise or weight lifting? There are adherents for each, but the consensus among most experts is that both should be used together for the best results.

Cardio Alone

Cardiovascular exercise, like running, walking, cycling, and stair climbing, is based on the principle of oxygen exchange, the use of an aerobic (oxygen-using) mechanism to produce energy. People trying to lose weight typically go to cardio because it's relatively easy and doesn't necessarily require any special equipment.

While participating in cardio, you'll be burning calories. If you're working at a strenuous level, you could be burning quite a few of them. However, once you step off the treadmill, after about 20 minutes your metabolism is already returning to normal.

Weights Alone

Weightlifting is generally thought of as an anaerobic activity because it depends primarily on stored energy, rather than oxygen exchange. However, there is an aerobic component as well, which you will surely recognize if you have ever felt yourself out of breath after lifting.

While in general you burn more calories per minute with cardio, you can increase the calorie burning effect of weight lifting by using heavier weights with a low number of repetitions, and resting for a shorter period between your sets.

Free weights are better than machines because they engage the support structures of the body to a greater extent. However, machines aren't ineffective. If you prefer them and it makes the difference between lifting weights or not, by all means use them.

Another great benefit of weights is that your metabolism will stay revved up and you will burn more calories for up to two hours following your workout. Furthermore, muscle burns more calories than fat anyway, so when you keep more muscle mass, you'll burn more calories all the time, even at rest.

Cardio and Weights Together

You can see how combining cardio and weightlifting is better than doing either one by itself. They both provide certain benefits, and work synergistically together.

You may prefer one to the other. Most people do. But you have certain choices that may help you to enjoy it more. There are many different kinds of cardio machines, and there's always bicycling, running, or walking in the great outdoors. For weight lifting, you can choose between different types of machines, and with free weights, most exercises can be performed using barbells or dumbbells. Experiment and you will find the setup that you can enjoy.

Workout Strategies

Choose weight lifting exercises which focus on large muscle groups, not the refining little detailing exercises that bodybuilders will use. Choose two or three exercises per muscle group, and learn about the little variations in hand position you can use to vary the angle.

Your muscles need time to recover, so you should not work the same muscle groups two days in a row. You can either take a day between each workout, if you are doing full body exercises, or split your workouts between body parts. For example, do back and shoulders on Monday, lower body on Tuesday, and chest and arms on Wednesday.

Do your weight lifting session first, then cap off your workout with 20 minutes or so of cardio of your choice. Or, if you prefer (and have the time) you can do your cardio and weights in separate workouts.

Another strategy is to use circuit training. This is a full body workout which alternates weight lifting exercises with a few minutes of cardio, instead of complete rest. It can be tricky depending on the s setup and population of your gym. If y you're working out at home, you can easily create a circuit, but at a public gym, it might be tricky to use the weights or machines you want when you need to.

With both cardio and weights, don't try to do more than you can. That is, you should push yourself to improve your current level of fitness, but you should always do so within safe parameters. Don't lift weights which are too heavy for you to control smoothly, and don't continue to exercise if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or experience any kind of sharp or shooting pain.

If you can afford it, consider hiring a personal trainer to get you started. He or she will be able to help you develop a personalized plan which takes into consideration your current state of health and fitness, your lifestyle, and your weight loss and fitness goals. You will also learn how to perform exercises safely and how to challenge yourself without going too far. For some people, having an appointment with the trainer is the motivation they need to actually workout, so that's another benefit, especially if you're re having trouble getting into the habit.

If you don't have access to a gym, or prefer not to join one, you can workout at home. It's best if you have, at minimum, a cardio machine of some kind, a weight bench, and a set of dumbbells. But you can get a good workout without any of this. You can use resistance bands or household objects as weights, use a set of stairs for your cardio (you can run up, but always walk when coming down), or do bodyweight exercises like push-ups.

The important thing is that you become more active, whatever form it has to take.

What About Meals?

If you aren't doing so already, adjust your diet so that you are eating primarily fresh, whole foods. You should be getting about 30 percent of your calories from high quality lean protein, like poultry breast, fish, or top sirloin. 45 percent should be from complex carbohydrates, including vegetables, fruit, and legumes.

The remaining 25 percent should come from healthy fats, such as those in olive oil, avocado, nuts, and coconut. Avoid refined flour, margarine, and artificial sweeteners entirely. Instead, look for whole grains, real butter, and healthy sweeteners like honey.

Controversial Fat Loss Topic: Lose Body Fat Quickly Long Term Vs Short Term

By
Keep Weight Off

For many years the public, through articles, misinformation and even outright propaganda, have been led to believe that aerobic exercise is the only way to 'lose' weight and to keep it off. I'm here to tell you that this statement is false, and that if you truly want to lose fat and keep it off the best thing you can do is weight or resistance training with a little cardio thrown in for good measure.

Aerobic Exercise Fact

The simple fact is that aerobic exercise burns only a very small amount of calories and, for most people, alone it's an ineffective way to lose body fat. In fact, heavy aerobic exercise increases your chance of burning muscle, not fat, and that effect is further heightened when you couple it with a reduced calorie diet.

Catabolism

You see, when you perform aerobic exercises your body uses both fat and carbohydrates. When you increase the aerobics your body actually will burn more carbs and less fat. Do this long enough and your body will actually start making carbs from protein, a process called catabolism that will cause a large loss of muscle mass but no loss of fat!

Benefit of Muscle Mass

Before you start arguing that this would be a good thing let me remind you that if you lose too much muscle you also lose your ability to burn calories. When you have less muscle mass you burn less calories, it's that simple.

Best Prescription for Fat Loss

In simple terms, the best prescription for anyone wanting to lose weight permanently and keep it off over the long run is weight or resistance training coupled with some aerobics.

Control Frequency of Fatloss

You see, building muscle is an essential part of controlling body fat, and if you want to lose body fat and keep it off muscle building exercises such as resistance training and weight training are the way to do it. The more muscle your body has the more of a fat burning machine your body will be. Even if you eat more you will still stay lean and mean if your body has enough muscles to burn off the extra fat.

Concluding Remark!

In conclusion, for all of the people that need to hear it one more time, building muscle is the most important factor in getting and staying lean in the short and long term.

5 Fast Fat Loss Tips For Women Only

By
I train and design fat loss programs for a lot of women. The main concepts of every single one of my fat loss programs are always the same.
They focus on 5 principles that I'm going to reveal to you now.

 1) Do less cardio. This is by far the one that is hardest for most ladies to stick to. I don't know why, but ladies love long, boring, joint pounding cardio sessions. I think it's because most women think that by doing resistance training, they're going to magically turn into a guy and get big, hulking muscles and grow a beard, so they do lots and lots of slow cardio in their "fat burning zone" to get around this.

I'm sorry ladies, but that's not how it works. First there's no such thing as a fat burning zone. It's a myth that should be laid to rest for good.

Second, I want you to stop thinking about calories burned while doing the workout and start thinking about the amount of fat burned while not exercising. There is a way to do your cardio that gets you done in as little as 15 minutes that burns more fat throughout the remainder of the day than 90 minutes of moderate cardio in your fat burning zone.

It's called interval training. All interval training means is you mix short bouts of intense activity with longer bouts of moderate activity.

Take the treadmill as an example. After you warm-up, you would run relatively fast for 20 seconds, followed by a slow jog for 60 seconds, repeat that until you've gone about 12 minutes. Then cool down and you're done. If you do it correctly, I promise you you'll feel worked when you're done and you'll be in and out of the gym quicker than most of the other ladies warm-up.

2) Eat more fiber.

Fiber is king when it comes to fat loss. Eat more of it and you will lose fat. Just start adding more fruits, vegetables, healthy nuts and beans to your daily diet and you'll notice results within days.

3) Stop drinking diet soda. Diet soda, believe it or not, can be making you gain weight. How is that you ask? Because it makes many ladies retain water. As if you didn't have enough of that to worry about already, now you have to worry about diet sodas making you retain water.

So, stop drinking them and you may lose upwards of 10 pounds in a week.

4) Do resistance training 3 times per week. No, you won't get big burly muscles like a guy. In fact, many guys have trouble getting big muscles. It's very, very hard to gain 1 pound of muscle and it's even harder for women because they naturally don't have the hormones.

But doing resistance training doesn't necessarily mean you have to go hang out with the boys. Just stick to 3 full body workouts that focus on full body movements like push-ups, rows, squats, lunges and full body core movements like planks and mountain climbers rather than crunches.

Doing so will burn a lot more fat and tone your arms and legs much faster than doing isolation movements like bicep curls, triceps kickbacks and the inner thigh machines.

5) Stop doing so many crunches.

It drives me crazy to hear that people do hundreds of crunches everyday. That will not give you a flat, sexy stomach. It may strengthen those muscles, but what good does that do if they're hidden below a layer of flabby goo?

You have to get rid of the stomach fat by following the previous 4 tips I gave you. That's how you get the firm, flat tummy you've always wanted. That's how you get rid of the muffin top and fit into those skinny jeans you've always wanted.

Not by doing endless amounts of crunches.

10 Killer Tips For Rapid Fat Loss

By
Let's face it - losing weight isn't easy. Many people find that it takes at least three or four distinctly different attempts before they're finally able to get into the weight loss groove. Regardless of your program, there are many factors that can assist in your body's ability to burn fat, most of which are no more difficult than lifting a pencil!
Here are 10 killer tips for rapid fat loss.

1.) Cutting Out Meat and Dairy

Many people consider meat and dairy to be staples of their diet, but the fact is they are not only unnecessary, they can be a huge hindrance on your ability to burn fat. Stick to a diet rich in vegetables and you will be far more likely to burn fat quickly.

2.) Do More Cardio

Everyone knows that exercising is crucial if you want to lose weight, but lifting weights isn't going to help you shed those extra pounds quickly. The most important exercise for fat loss is cardio, which can be done either by running, jogging or cycling for 30 minutes per day.

3.) Don't Drink Soda or Alcohol

Both soda and alcohol are loaded with empty calories, and alcohol in particular has the distinct effect of slowing down the body's metabolism, which in turn inhibits fat loss. If you must, drink only one soda or alcoholic drink per week during a diet regimen.

4.) Drink a Lot of Water

Water contains no calories, yet has the innate effect of being able to fill you up when you drink a lot of it. It also keeps your body hydrated, making it crucial to drink as much water as possible when you are dieting.

5.) Eat Meals Early

Many people like to eat big meals late at night, which is one of the easiest ways to gain weight, as most people don't get any exercise afterward. Keeping your nighttime meals as lite as possible can help to promote fat loss, and be sure that you eat them at least three to four hours before you plan on going to sleep. Otherwise, food can sit in your stomach and can make for an uncomfortable night of sleep, not to mention a tough morning at the gym.

6.) Keep a Journal

Weigh yourself every morning at the exact same time, and keep a journal of your progress. If you see that you are slowing down, try to pinpoint exactly what it is that's keeping you from losing more weight. This can be an extremely helpful motivational factor.

7.) Get More Omega-3s

Omega-3 fatty acids are found in many foods including fish, and are not only good for the brain but are also thought to promote fat burning in the body. If you don't like to eat fish, fish oil supplements contain high quantities of Omega-3 fatty acids and are an excellent way to supplement your diet.

8.) Eat Smaller Meals

Most people think that eating three large meals a day is the best eating schedule to be on. However, experts agree that eating less food more frequently aids in the digestion process and, ultimately, fat loss. Instead of three large meals per day, try eating five small meals.

9.) Get Enough Sleep

The body's metabolism is heavily affected by the amount of sleep you get on a given night. The average adult should get at least seven to eight hours of sleep per night, although this is becoming more and more rare as the world becomes a busier place. Nevertheless, you should strive to always get enough sleep if you wish to lose those extra pounds.

10.) Drink Green Tea

One of the best natural weight loss supplements in the world is none other than green tea. While most people are aware that green tea contains antioxidants which can be useful in fighting such illnesses as cancer and heart disease, it also has an extremely strong effect on the body's metabolism, which can make it easy for those with even the slowest metabolisms to lose weight. Many people find that after trying scores of weight loss supplements, green tea is the answer they've been looking for all along.

Popular Fat Loss Programs

By
I will be comparing three popular fat loss programs, Atkin's Diet, Fit for Life Diet and Weight Watchers.
Let's look into the Atkins Diet first. The Atkin's Diet is a low carbohydrate diet that has four phases. Each phase you add a little more grams of carbohydrates to your diet. By the time you hit the last phase which is phase
four you are only consuming 70 plus grams of carbohydrates.

When your body is this low in carbohydrates it starts using fat as its primary source of energy instead of carbohydrates and if your carbohydrates stay to low for to long your body will take the energy it needs not only from your fat but your muscles as well. You will lose weight with this diet but the bad out weighs the good.

We need carbohydrates for our, brain, heart, muscles and other vital organs. Our body uses carbohydrates as the primary source of energy; you will be tired, grumpy and in my case when I tried this a long time ago, craving sweet foods. This diet could not support intense training because of the low carbohydrates. A healthy diet would be one that has the proper blend of protein, fats and carbohydrates for the individual.

Now let's look at The Fit for Life Diet. This diet states that weight is gained by eating protein rich foods at the same time you eat foods that are rich in carbohydrates. It argues that the enzymes that breakdown protein interfere with the enzymes that breakdown carbohydrates, and therefore should not be eaten together. With these low protein diets you will experience muscle soreness and fatigue.

Our body is replacing old cells everyday. Every six weeks the cells in our liver are replaced. Each month our body produces a full set of new skin and so many other important functions take place. All of the cells that our body replaces come from the protein we consume each day. So this low protein diet is not recommended period.

The final fat loss program is the Weight Watchers program. Here is the scientific approach to weight watchers, this information was taken from their website, http://www.weightwatchers.com There are four principles from which Weight Watchers will not waiver. First, any approach developed by Weight Watchers must provide healthy weight loss, which means: Produce a rate of weight loss of up to two pounds per week (after the first 3 weeks, during which losses may be greater due to water loss).

Guide food choices that not only reduce calories, but meet current scientific recommendations for nutritional completeness and reduced disease risk. Construct an activity plan that provides the full range of weight- and health-related benefits that exercise offers. Be sustainable. Healthy weight loss is weight loss that lasts, so it is necessary to look beyond losing the excess weight and address keeping it off. This program is not a low carb, low fat or low protein diet. From the information I have gathered on this program, I believe it offers a healthy routine of eating and can stand up to intense training. This program takes into account a food's protein, carbs, fat, and fiber.

Bodybuilding Fat Loss

http://bit.ly/TDxm50By
Regular exercise and fat loss are good for you and they will contribute to your being healthier but they will not cause the definition and toning of your body that you can obtain from using body building work out routines. For females these routines are not going to add increased bulk and make you look like a professional wrestler. They will give you a toned and lean physique and they will make you look and feel much better about yourself. Even a modest body building work out with weights will help you build stronger bones, halt bone loss and add lean muscle to your form.

Many people are not aware that you begin losing 1% of your total lean muscle mass each year, beginning in your 20s. This means that when you hit 30 you have effectively lost 10% of your muscle mass already. Since it takes more calories to support 1 pound of muscle you are losing shape and definition and you are also losing some ability to burn fat. If you want to turn this process around you will need to take advantage of lifting weights now.

There are many weight lifting tips that may be useful to you as you begin to make weights and resistance training a part of your exercise program. You will need to understand that after an intense training workout you should rest your body for one full day. If you provided challenging weights you will have caused some tiny tears in your muscles and they will need time to repair. When they do regenerate the muscle tissue is slightly larger and slightly stronger.

You will not begin to notice these changes in appearance for several months but with each successive training period you will be able to tell the difference in how much easier it has become. It is very important to stay hydrated during heavy work out routines so drink plenty of water. Work slowly and steadily in increasing the amount of weight that you work with and always increase the weights in small intervals.

Bodybuilding for fat loss and a healthier, leaner body is becoming more popular as people realize the benefits of weight training and eating a healthy diet. Start your training today, firm up and get healthier.

What is the Top Fat Loss Secret?

By
While there is not a top fat loss secret, incorporating all of these "secrets" into your lifestyle will have everyone asking you, "what's your top fat loss secret?"
The secret is, there is no secret. Fat loss is not easy, and there aren't really any secrets that will help you magically lose weight. But don't despair - there is good news. While there is not one top fat loss secret, there are several secrets that can help you along the path of your weight management plan. Here are a few to keep in your diary:

Secret #1
When you begin a weight management plan, goals are great to aspire to, but they have to be sensible. The number one secret is to incorporate a list of fat burning foods into your diet. Food does not actually burn your fat, but the properties of the food can hydrate your body, which fights fat cells and cellulite. Hydrating the body with nutritional foods can repair cell damage, strengthen blood vessels and encourage development of production tissue. In addition, eating foods that keep you full for longer, such as fiber, can reduce your overall caloric intake.

Secret #2
The number two secret is to create a workout plan that allows you to lose fat, but not lean muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, and fat doesn't burn calories - muscles do. The more muscles you have, the more calories are burned. For this top fat loss secret, incorporate intense weight training into your weight management plan to build muscle. It's a myth that you can burn fat when you use a lighter weight for more reps. And cardio is not always the answer to this top fat loss secret. Overdoing cardio exercises will break down your lean muscle tissue, so you need to do cardio in intervals - high intensity and low intensity. You can burn calories by cleaning your house, swimming, running or even cycling. Aim to 30 minutes a day. It's simple - burn more calories than you eat, and you'll lose fat. Stop choosing the closest parking space and get that body moving!

Secret #3
You will not like the third secret, but it is true and will help you permanently achieve your goals. This fat loss secret involves a little introspection. Just like credit card debt, you can't expect to have results overnight. You didn't get that beer belly or those cottage cheese thighs overnight. This third secret is really not a secret at all. It's just you facing reality. In time, your body will improve and you can sink yourself back into those 'skinny' jeans.

Secret #4
Unlike the previous secret, you will like this one - eat more in order to lose fat. Of course, there's a trick though! You have to eat the right foods. Eat small meals preferably every 3 hours. Your body won't go hungry and your muscles will be smiling. Don't starve yourself or count 'points' to lose fat. A low-carbohydrate menu is best to shed pounds of fat. The body burns energy from carbs first, then fat and protein. Under 100 grams of carbs a day is low-carb, so shoot for 50 grams. It will take your body a few days to get adjusted, but then the fat will be consumed first.

Secret #5
It may be a simple idea, but most people do not do it. The last fat loss secret is to eat healthy. A realistic weight management plan helps your body, not your cravings. Eat what satisfies your body. As mentioned above, carbs need to be eaten in moderation. When you eat too many carbs, your body stores it as fat. Fruit is great for you, but if you eat too many pieces of fruit, your body will convert it to fat. It's best to eat after a workout. Vegetables fill you up without causing you to gain weight. Eat protein daily to build and maintain muscle tissue. Eggs, fish, poultry and lean red meat are great sources. Eliminate junk food and trans fat. Lastly, drink water like you're a fish, which keeps you full and minimizes your calorie intake.
